Visa / Master Card has released a new directive that came out in March of this year; If you are using our Point of Sale to run your business and are processing credit cards through the Point of Sale, YOU MUST UPGRADE by July 1st, 2010. This new rule applies to ALL Point of Sale systems sold in the US.

Download the Update and Update Instructions

Whether you are interfacing through pcCharge or Mercury, this is a mandatory upgrade being mandated by Visa / Master Card and American Express to become PCI Compliant.

If you have not upgraded and do NOT have the new Point of Sale in place by July 1st 2010, you will face heavy fines and the loss of your Visa / Master Card charge capabilities. There is no exception to this requirement. Your software will be TESTED by Visa / Master Card every 90 days that it is compliant!

Just so you understand, ALL Point of Sale software or any software that processes a credit card will be tested, over the Internet, at random times, in your store by the Credit Card Companies. It will test for PCI compliance. If it is not compliant, you risk large fines and revocation of your credit card processing abilities.

In an effort to help reduce cost for this upgrade, we have setup a special pricing program. The earlier you purchase your upgrade, the less it will cost you.

After over 9 months of development, testing and compliance certification, the expected final release of our Version 10 - PCI compliant version is scheduled to be released on May 15th, 2010 - There is also many new features added to the version 10 beyond just the PCI compliance.

The cost for getting PCI compliant was an enormous undertaking and very expensive cost to DotDude.com, Inc. We have attempted to keep our upgrade as low as possible and spread the development and PCI compliance cost over our existing and future customers.

Questions and Answers from the Source

upgrade cost is $425.00 - Due to slow mail and the continuing harsh economic times, we are extending our previously initial upgrade pricing.

Pricing is for EACH of your locations, by this, we mean stores. If you have more than 3 locations/stores, we will discount the above pricing by 10%. We do NOT care how many Stations at each location/store.

Mercury Supported Peripherals

  1. Keyboard emulation card reader configured to append a carriage return. The MagTek MSR 21040108 was the device tested. This is a USB device. Mercury will parse out all the required Track Data. There is no additional integration work required. (It is recommended to configure the card reader to append a carriage return to the end of track data in order to enhance the user experience interaction with the user interface.)
  1. VeriFone 1000SE PIN Pad for U.S. PIN debit. This device requires a serial connection.
  1. For Canadian Debit, the VeriFone sc5000 and the Ingenico i3070 are supported. Both devices require serial connection.

Note: Serial to USB adapters have been tested with the above PIN Pads, yet we have discovered that not all are equally successful. The TRIPPLITE U209-000-R USB and Edgeport’s line of USB to Serial converters have proven reliable. When specifying the connection type in the PinPadConfig class, make sure to specify Serial even if you are using a USB to Serial converter.
